Rapture
Evoking the human form, Victor Tan’s works delve into the existential quest for meaning. “Rapture” is the result of a spontaneous vision that had struck him upon his initial encounter with the Gallery’s Padang Atrium.
Rapture is an artwork that consists of eight life-sized human figure wire sculptures. Drawing inspiration from the biblical notion of rapture—the act of ascending to a realm beyond our own—the sculptures represent the transition from the earthly to the spiritual, symbolising a surrender to the divine. This work is a testament to the enduring nature of the human spirit, its capacity for transcendence and the unwavering belief that there is a brighter, more compassionate reality awaiting us beyond the horizon.
